About the Storyteller

Some stories aren't invented. They're remembered.

I'm Bill Combs — the writer behind The Ascension Chronicles, a metaphysical thriller series that asks the questions most fiction is too polite to touch. What if our history is older than we've been told? What if memory itself is a kind of inheritance? What if Atlantis wasn't a myth, but a warning?

I write for readers who suspect there's more to the world than what fits inside a textbook — readers who feel the pull of forgotten places, ancient symbols, and truths that hum just beneath the surface of the ordinary.

What I Write

My books live at the intersection of speculative fiction, hidden history, and metaphysical mystery. Across two connected series, I'm building a single, layered universe — one where the past isn't dead, the gates between worlds aren't fully closed, and the people who stumble into the truth are rarely the same afterward.

  • The Ascension Chronicles A disgraced physicist. A buried discovery beneath Egypt. A message from the dead. The flagship series, journeying from modern science into the lost civilization of Atlantis and the forgotten architecture of human memory. Two books published, with more to come.
  • 21st Century Merlin Ancient power, modern world. What happens when the old magic wakes up in a modern teenager? Book One available now.  More coming.

Each series stands on its own. Together, they tell a larger story — one I'm still uncovering as I write.

Why I Write This

I've always been drawn to the spaces in history where the lights flicker — the things mainstream archaeology can't quite explain, the symbols that show up across civilizations that supposedly never met, the moments when the human story gets stranger than fiction allows.

My books are my way of walking into those spaces and asking: what if?

If you've ever read about ancient sites and felt something stir — if mythology feels less like fantasy and more like a record we've forgotten how to read — these stories were written for you.

Where to Begin

New readers usually start with The Quantum Gate, Book 1 of The Ascension Chronicles. It's the entry point to the universe, and it sets up the questions the rest of the series answers.

Welcome to the Chronicles. The gate is already open.
